How Thumka Tribe Began
A friendship built on movement. A company built on joy.
Thumka Tribe was born out of beats, inside jokes, and an unshakable love for dance.
Manasa and Vijaya — two friends turned creative collaborators — grew up performing together, choreographing school shows, and finding rhythm in the everyday.
Life took them down different paths —
Manasa is an engineer and MBA who recently returned from the USA. A trained Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Bollywood dancer, she somehow brings both structure and sass to every rehearsal.
Vijaya is a full-time clinical nutritionist who moved back from Canada. She's trained in jazz, contemporary, and Bollywood at Shiamak Davar’s academy — which explains her love for clean lines, emotional beats, and a good dramatic finish.
Eventually, they realised it wasn’t just about dancing for themselves — it was about building a space where others could feel what they always had: joy, connection, and a sense of belonging.

A space where families could rehearse without pressure, where couples could discover a new kind of sync, and where even the most hesitant dancer could groove without fear of “getting it wrong.”

Being part of a large family, a wedding every year was the norm — but planning your own daughter’s wedding was a whole new experience! With an inter-community wedding and our NRI sambandhi, there was so much to look into. The most anticipated event, of course, was the sangeet!
